An unorthodox way of making the Hungarian Christmas rolls

Both the maker and the way of preparing are unorthodox by the way. Normally here in Hungary around Christmas time grandmothers make all kinds of home-made sweets. One of the favorites are the Hungarian walnut or poppy-seed rolls. They are actually kind of hard to make. It is almost an art to get the dough to the right consistency so that they don't explode and look like volcanoes. John definitely mastered the Christmas roll making art. It is hard to stop eating them because they are so delicious. Even a broken mixer was not a reason for my man to give up, he just took out the drill. (I guess you have to be a man to come up with that idea... :-)

My trip to the US

Grandpa and Grandma invited me to come to Texas for Thanksgiving. So Mommy and Daddy packed the suitcases, I packed my sheep and dolly and there we were ready for taking off for the big adventure. The travel was long almost a whole day, but I got to know many people at the airports and planes and had fun running up and down the ail on the airplane (with mommy or daddy trying to keep up with me). Then we were there in Texas! I played with my Grandma and Grandpa and even my Grandparents, Uncle Jeff, Aunt Kelly, my Cousin Soren. I went to different churches with Mommy and Daddy, where they shared about how things were going in Hungary and somebody said that I was stealing the show. I met many big and little friends and everybody was very nice to me and I got quiet many compliments. I also had many firsts, like playing with the goats, the donkeys and the rooster PC (= Prince Charming) at the ranch, eating my first tortillas and riding on my Great-grandpa’s back. I also enjoyed learning new songs with grandma, meeting Jadon who is my friend since I was in mommy’s womb and to meet people who have been praying for me since I was a tiny little one in my mommy’s tummy.

Grandpa's nose beeeeeps!

Hi Donkey, would you like to have my rock?

Here you go, have some dinner!

Maybe one day I will be a sheperd.

Grandma knows so many stories and songs.

Jadon and me learning how to share a toy. :-)
