Our Email Update - November

Dear Friends,

Breaking one of the fundamental rules of Thanksgiving, we roasted a duck instead of a turkey (turkey is expensive here, plus it's hard to find a whole bird). However, Zsofi's homemade pecan pie more than made up for it and was a big hit with our neighbor who joined us for dinner!

Two things that we are particularly thankful for this year are the birth of our second precious daughter, Elizabeth, as well as what God is doing here in Torokbalint.

Christmas in Torokbalint

This winter is an exciting time for our team in Hungary. First, on Dec. 14th, we are going to host another benefit sale for the poor in our community. Then, a week later on the 20th, we are holding our annual neighborhood Christmas party. Last year we had a great turn-out, and this year we are expecting even more.

We are also really excited about a kind of mini-labyrinth we are planning for the Christmas program. In medieval times, labyrinths served as external representations of an inward journey (toward God), and recently have seen a resurgence in popularity. So we thought, what a great way to stimulate the guest's thoughts about whether there is more to Christmas than this, and afterwards, for those who want to explore more, invite them to the Alpha Course that we are launching on Jan. 15th!
Finally, we are truly blessed to have such a great group of supporters behind our work here in Hungary. Thank you so much for your contributions that enable us to serve here as well as your prayers that enable us to succeed.
With our love,
John & Zsofi
