Surprised by God
I (Zsofi) wanted to share with you something encouraging that happened recently concerning our raising funds.
One Sunday morning we sat down next to a couple in church who we previously had never met, and during the part of the service where everyone greeted each other, we introduced ourselves to this couple and chatted briefly with them. Then, after the service ended and we were saying goodbye, the lady spontaneously invited us to go out to lunch with them. We didn't have any plans that particular Sunday, so we naturally accepted. At the restaurant, the lady shared that this was rather out of character for her to invite people out to lunch so spontaneously and she surprised even herself that she did it.
We had a very pleasant time with them and ended up discussing topics ranging from our love for dogs to quantum physics. :-) At the end, they mentioned that they have been supporting a mission agency but did not feel so comfortable continuing to financially support them. They went on to add that they were actually looking for some missionaries to start supporting and apparently during lunch decided that they would like to start supporting us. We were very thankful and quite blown away by how God arranged all of these circumstances in order to allow something like this to happen.
Raising support is definitely a faith building experience for John and I, and we have often prayed for God to guide us through this process and that He would inspire those who would choose to invest in and be part of our work in Hungary. And instances like this have been powerful demonstrations for us that God is answering those prayers.
